Some folks get into bookbinding because they have a book of their own that they want to see in print or, like me, they have an ebook that they'd like to get off the computer. But others are just in love with the idea of making a book.

If your goal is printing and binding and you are tired of making journals and notebooks, a great source of classic books that you can print and bind (many with illustrations included) is the Project Gutenberg website.

If you know of other good sources of free book texts that can be used for binding projects, list them here.

Another good place for public domain books is

http://www.books.google.com

I'm currently collecting the Everyman's Library and a list of Classical education books.  My plan is to bind them for my personal library, have fun with gilding and decorating the leather/cloth.

Sounds like a very cool project. Please post some pictures or video when you finish your books.
