My friend Allen is in the final stages of releasing a self-published teen-fiction novel called "Speedsuit Powers." To build some audience awareness for the novel in anticipation of release, he put together a video trailer for the book.
Here it is:
What do you think? Do you think a video trailer like this helps get the word out effectively? If so, why? If not, is there a better way to build an audience with video?
I'd like to see him push harder to get people to take an immediate action - like sign-up for a mailing list to get some sort of 'secret video' or 'sneak peek.' That way he can contact them as the release date approaches to remind them and also ask them to help spread the word about the video.
Oh, BTW,
please bookmark the video, send it to friends who might be interested, blog about the video, and generally help a self-published author get a little publicity.
